Iowa City Ped Mall Ministry

Some homeless make the Ped Mall their hangout and panhandle from passersby or eat out of the garbage cans.

Mel
shared his vision
(to make Bibles & Christian literature available in this setting) with his Sunday School class at Sunnyside
Conservative Mennonite Church in Kalona, IA years ago and they helped
with the initial funding - Bill Bontrager constructed a tract rack to
help distribute literature and a durable table was purchased. LaVern
Miller also caught the vision.
A table is set up on many Sunday afternoons April thru November to offer Bibles, Bible Study helps, tracts, Coloring books, Christian literature to help with marriages, to lead people to Christ. and to disciple. Mel mans the table to answer Bible questions and share with those who would want to talk. LaVern and others take tracts and hand them out on the Ped Mall and engage people in conversation in hopes of leading them to the Lord.

The Tract Rack is placed at a remote location so people can
take material without confrontation.
